#100littlehappys

Happy New Year cherubs! What a relief to have that over and done with eh?! Now on with the next phase. What with the world throwing us in each & every wonky direction maintaining our happiness levels has been a tricky one.

#100littlehappys challenge is here to help us seek out the silly & find the fun in our every day, wherever we might be, both mentally and physically.

Let me reach out ma hand and help you on the fun bus. I intend to post 1 happy moment on Insta for the next 100 days. They can be any little win, skipping down the street, completing a puzzle, speaking to an old friend…. it can be anything, big or small, the only requirement is that it is chockablock of serotonin enhancing happy feels!

When you discover one I would love to hear about it! Feel free to tag @littlebitmargate or just use the hashtag #100littlehappys to any post on Instagram showing your happy moment of the day.

For a better understanding about all my reasons why I am passionate about this, have a read of my blog post below.

As children we learn how to cope with change by playing….. so in this time of change let us PLAY our way to a brighter day.

Bring on the Joy!

Jokes.

Spread the joy when we need it most!

These little stickers were born out of my #100littlehappys challenge. I decided I wanted to put some happiness about town lamposts to cheer up everyone's day.

The whole process was so much fun. I asked people for their favourite jokes & was inundated with them. It was so wonderful to see the joy being shared & people genuinely cheered from the thread.

Was a really powerful and pep filled thing!

So here are some little stickers I have made for you to spread the lols about your town.

If you fancy making your own then either invest in some printable sticker paper. You will find versions for both laser and inkjet printers, just ensure that they are waterproof to withstand the weather!

For joke inspo take a peep at my story highlights on Instagram where you can find the joke i pose each day!

Spread the joy when we need it most!

These little stickers were born last week when I decided I wanted to put some happiness about town lampposts to cheer up everyone's day.

The whole process was so much fun. I asked people on my Facebook page and Insta stories for their favourite jokes! The response was HUGE!

People love a joke!

So many comments and proper belly laugh worthy jokes came flooding in.

Was a really powerful and pep filled thing!

I then set about making a small batch to pop about town and spread the joy and had many people asking if these might be available to buy. I have made a limited number available but would like to help you make your own and get the full enjoyment that I did from the whole process.

To make them you can either buy some sticker paper which you can get for both Inkjet or laser printers and print out some silly jokes, Make sure they are waterproof as the weather is a bit grim and we don’t want sad happys floating down the street! Or, if you prefer, you can get arty and scribble down some jokes in a sharpie and get some sticky back plastic and just layer it over the top of your design leaving 1cm trim of sticky around the edge of your joke and cut them out.

If you need inspo for the jokes,(or just a mid week lol!) then take a peep at my Instagram Highlights and you will see a whole load of them there that I have been posting each day to stories!

I can’t wait to see and hear how you get on and where you end up sticking them!

If you just wanna grab a sweet set of 30 lols then here are some little stickers I have made for you.

1st January 2021

Thank heck that is over! Hallelujah! I’m pretty sure I heard the world sigh with relief as the clock struck midnight for the final time in 2020.

This has been quite the whirlwind over the past 12 months. And how flippin’ proud we should all be for making it thru! By hook or by crook we did it and that needs to be applauded BIG TIME. How amazing and resilient human beings are! Here is hoping that the fall out of this turbulence is a more compassionate and kind global community. Surely it has long term effects on the soul. I sincerely believe it must.

I have found this past year a really mentally draining one and I know I am not alone in this. It has been a constant fluctuation of mood, weekly, daily and sometimes hourly. Not knowing if we are coming or going, so much uncertainty and uncomfort and the usual go-to fixes of meeting up with mates or exploring pastures new have not been available to any of us for some time. So, I decided I needed to step it up a gear. I just needed to encourage myself to really try each day to find the joy in it, no matter if it’s within the same four walls as I have been intensely for the past 12 months.

So on 1st January 2021, I decided I would seek out 100 Little Happys. One cheery moment of delight each day for one hundred days. You have my permission to hold me to this one! Now let me be honest here… I am terrible at challenges usually…. like REALLY bad. But this is one I think I will relish. What I find hard about the usual challenges is the structure of them. There has to be a lot of consideration and photoshoots and all that. But the purpose of this is that it must be spontaneous. So I intend to not try not to plan the fun I find. I want it to be as organic a process as possible. Sure I will have some days where there is something fun in the diary but on the whole, the idea is that the fun is born out of those moments in between when the brain is left to settle and wonder starts to seep out.

I have been reading an amazing book, given to me by my dear friend Soph. It is Micheal Rosen’s book PLAY. I picked it up on Boxing Day and it spoke to my soul. For a long time now I have found it hard to keep consistently bouncy. It is mainly due to the lack of contact with human beings in the shop. I am a social creature and thrive off the interaction. The sense of play and fun that my Little Bit shop creates and evokes inside people is immense. Colour has a canny way of creeping into your cheeks and making you grin, and that energy is infectious.

Basically, this little book came at the time I was having this epiphany about what I am supposed to be doing on this planet during the times when my little shop open is not able to be open. So I went deep into the gnarly depths of my memory and grabbed hold of all the jobs where I have had the most joy. I have had a few hats in these 37 years. I was an actress for 15 of them, creating and playing was my life, a complete passion. I literally got paid to dress up and play make-believe! How amazing is that?! I still pinch myself tbh when I think about all the lovely things I did and people I met. It felt like a lifetime ago, completely disconnected from my life now as a little shopkeep. Then I thought of my other delight of a job I had. For over 10 years I wore was ‘professional funbuster’ or ‘nonsense faSILLYtator’ as we preferred to be known. LOL! It originated as some of my friends and I wanting free tickets to music festivals but turned into 10 summers of hilarious fun making super silly games and good times for people in fields! And would you believe it…. we ended up being fully paid and doing it in all manner of places. Big corporations would have us come and make fun for their Christmas parties or making silly sports days for weddings. It was incredible. We literally got paid to create play and have fun!

So my epiphany hit me… I just wanna make life a little more fun. That is the purpose of the shop. It is the reason Big Bit BnB is so playful. I dearly want to incite the silly in you all. Help brighten the days a little bit. I have missed seeing smiles now they are hidden behind masks because they too are one of the most infectious things. More contagious than corona aren’t they! (too soon?!) But that is the power of happiness. It can be shared, without having to be in close proximity, so that is what I am intending to do, with your help to keep it spreading a little further each day.

So if you find a little happy, whether it is skipping down the street rather than walking, or like me finding a packet of googly eyes and hiding them about the house on different objects then I wanna see! Tag me @littlebitmargate on Instagram and use the hashtag #100littlehappys and let’s get this happy little fun bus on the road!

You can have a peep at my reels or highlight on my Insta profile for some inspo. Hope it helps in whichever small way it can.

So here we go….
